About Isla Blanca & Cancún

Isla Blanca is a thin strip of sand reaching north from Cancún, with a shallow lagoon on its landward side and open Caribbean on the other. The lagoon is the reason to come: sandy-bottomed, consistently flat, and shallow enough that a first lesson is genuinely low-stakes.

Wind is side-onshore from the north-east, driven by trades and thermals, and runs 15 to 25 knots most reliably from November through May. Beginners work the lagoon; stronger riders cross to the ocean side for waves and variety.

Access is straightforward — twenty-five to thirty minutes north of Cancún airport — though the last stretch is sand and a car with some clearance helps; most schools run transport. There are restaurants, showers, parking and rescue on site. And Cancún, Isla Mujeres and the Riviera Maya are all within reach for the rest of the trip.
