Kite Area guide
Badesi, Sardinia
Badesi's virtue is simplicity: a long shallow beach and side-shore wind, which is close to the ideal geometry for learning.
When to kite
Best months: March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October.
About this Kite Area
Badesi stretches five kilometres along Sardinia's northern coast in the province of Sassari, and its appeal is geometric: shallow water, a long beach, and wind that the sources say always arrives sideways. That combination is close to ideal for learning.
Mistral, Tramontana and Grecale all work here, and thermal wind fills in through the afternoons between May and October. Advanced riders find waves when the direction suits.
Northern Sardinian wind is gustier than the south because of Corsica, but Badesi's length means there is usually room to find a workable stretch.
