About this Kite Area
Mũi Né Beach runs along the town and is where most of the riding happens. Wind comes cross-onshore from the north-east through south-east, filling in around ten in the morning and holding to about six in the evening at 18 to 30 knots, gusting to 40 at the peak of the season.
The dunes behind the beach are not decoration: thermal acceleration off the red and white sand regularly pushes the afternoon well past forecast, and riders routinely drop from a twelve-metre kite to a seven by the end of the day.
The water is flat in lighter wind and gets choppy as it builds, with shore break developing in the stronger gusts — that break can exceed beginner difficulty at high tide. Beach erosion has affected the northern end. Ganh Beach and Suoi Nuoc along the coast give smoother wind and better-spaced waves. Jellyfish are occasionally present and are not aggressive.
