Sidi Kaouki, Essaouira

Sidi Kaouki is the wave option south of town: a wide empty beach, serious shore break, and wind that blows away from the land.

Best months: April, May, June, July, August, September.

About this Kite Area

Sidi Kaouki lies about twenty minutes south of Essaouira, a fishing village fronted by a large open sandy beach. The sources describe the wind here as fairly reliable but offshore — which changes the risk profile completely, because a problem carries you away from the shore rather than toward it.

The beach delivers powerful breaks and strong currents, with named waves including La Grotte and La Couronne nearby. It rewards confident wave riders and punishes anyone else.

The season matches the rest of the coast: April to September, 15 to 25 knots, peaking around 25 in July and August. The water is cold and a wetsuit is required.
