About this Kite Area
Talamone sits on the Tyrrhenian coast in the Maremma, in a bay overlooked by a medieval fortress on the headland. The water is relatively flat and shallow, which makes it one of the better places in Tuscany to learn or to build hours.
The wind is westerly and thermally reinforced: the Maestrale from the north-west and the Libeccio from the south-west are the working directions, with afternoon thermal effect adding strength on hot days. The spot is open year-round, though the season concentrates between March and October.
It also carries windfoil, wingfoil and windsurf traffic. Expect a lighter average wind than the Sardinian spots across the water, and plan a trip in which riding is one part of the week rather than the whole of it.
