About this Kite Area
Puzziteddu lies near Mazara del Vallo on Sicily's south-west coast, and it records over 250 windy days a year — wind from the south, south-east, west and north-west, with thermal effect adding strength through the summer. The season runs March to October, with summer the most consistent.
The sea deepens slowly here and there is reef, but the defining character is waves: small to medium, well suited to intermediate riders and to anyone comfortable in surf. Wave action creates currents, which is the reason beginners should not be here without instruction. The sources set the bar clearly — comfortable with waves, and completely comfortable with self-rescue.
The beach has an unusual feature: a raised, wall-like bank separating the sand from the buildings and road behind, which keeps the riding area clear. Parking is free, though facilities generally come with a lesson or accommodation.
