About this Kite Area

Pemba is the capital of Cabo Delgado and the gateway to this stretch of coast — the airport, the town and the bay from which most visitors reach Murrebue a short way south.

It shares the region's wind: the south-east Cuzi from May through August at 15 to 30 knots on around ninety per cent of days, and a less consistent north-easterly season from November to March. Water runs 26 to 28°C in the windy months.

Detail specific to riding at Pemba itself, as distinct from the Murrebue lagoon, is thin in the available sources — most kitesurfing here happens at Murrebue. Confirm launch areas and conditions with a local operator, and note the region's limited infrastructure and rescue cover.
