About this Kite Area
Ambatoloaka is the main beach on Nosy Be's south-western shore and, with neighbouring Madirokely, the established base for kitesurfing on the island. Schools and rental operate here.
The season runs April to November, peaking June to September, on the south-east trade winds Madagascar calls the Alizés, at 15 to 30 knots. Water sits at 24 to 29°C year-round, so nothing more than a lycra is needed, and April to November is also the dry season.
Beach-specific detail on launches, depth and hazards is thinner in the available sources than for the northern lagoons, and the beach is shared with boats and swimmers in a busy tourist village. Confirm the launch area and conditions with a school before riding.
