About this Kite Area
Rockanje Badstrand lies on Voorne, south of the Rotterdam waterway, and it is one of the more forgiving beaches on the Dutch coast: shallow water that deepens gradually, suiting beginners and freestyle riders alike.
Safe wind directions are north-west, west, south-west and south.
The important detail is seasonal. Kitesurfing at the Badstrand is permitted only from October through April; from May to September the beach is closed to kites, with alternative areas available on the Rockanje Sportstrand during the summer. The swimming zone by the beach pavilions is off limits in the summer season, and a sandspit roughly a kilometre and a half away is prohibited altogether.
Paid parking runs from April to October, with seasonal toilets and showers and two beach pavilions. Two kite schools operate here and the local kitesurfing association maintains an information point at the first beach section.
