About this Kite Area

Mikri Vigla is a long sandy beach with clear turquoise water on the west coast of Naxos, and its wind is a geographic gift. The Venturi effect through the narrow strait between Naxos and Paros compresses the Meltemi, and local thermal acceleration lifts it further — on a light forecast day the beach often still delivers a solid 18 to 22 knots.

Wind arrives north to north-westerly and side-onshore. Crucially, the shape of the bay prevents fully onshore conditions and naturally pushes riders back toward the beach, which is why the local schools describe it as the safest spot on the island and why rescues are rare.

The reliable season runs June through September, most consistent from June to August. May and September are cooler with dependable wind; October has warmer water but less predictable conditions.

It suits everyone from first lessons to advanced freestyle. The main drawback is crowding at peak hours.
