About this Kite Area
Lagoa de Albufeira lies about six kilometres south of Fonte da Telha, an enclosed lagoon behind the Atlantic beach and the flat-water option on this coast. It draws freestylers and beginners to the same water, which tells you most of what you need to know about how forgiving it is.
The sources recommend riding at high tide, when the lagoon holds most water and there is most space. Wind is the Nortada — north to north-north-westerly — through the summer season.
Water on this coast is cool even in August, at 17 to 19°C, so a 3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit is standard.
