About this Kite Area

Kho Ma lies at the northern tip of Koh Phangan, beside Chaloklum Bay, and it is the spot that carries the island's third wind season. From late November to January the north-easterly blows cool and strong across this side of the island, when the south coast beaches are largely out of season.

Chaloklum's reef holds flat lagoon water inside it, with a mix of flat and swell depending on conditions. The strength of this season and the shelter of the bay make it a genuine alternative to the southern beaches rather than a fallback.

Beyond the seasonal pattern, detailed local information on launches, depth and hazards at this bay is thin in the available sources — worth confirming with a school on the island before travelling up.
