About this Kite Area
Thong Sala is the island's main town and ferry port, and the bay alongside it is a recognised riding area on the same stretch of south coast as Ban Tai.
The wind seasons are shared. January to April brings the steady south-easterly of roughly 9 to 20 knots with high tides — the reliable window. May to September brings the variable south-westerly, anywhere from 4 to 45 knots, with sudden storm gusts.
Detail specific to this bay is thinner in the available sources than for Ban Tai next door, and boat traffic around the pier is worth taking seriously. Confirm launch areas and current conditions with a local school before riding here.
