About this Kite Area
Jericoacoara sits inside a national park, reached across dunes, with sand instead of paved streets. It was a fishing village before the wind found it, and it remains the place people stay: pousadas, villas, restaurants and the nightly ritual of walking up the dune for the sunset.
The beach in front of the village is rideable and carries the same season and the same wind as the rest of the coast — July to February, averaging around 17 knots, from the north-east, east and south-east, strengthening around midday. But it is tighter and busier than the open sand at Preá, which is where most riders now go.
One practical note: there are no cash machines in Jericoacoara. Bring reais.
