About this Kite Area
La Pared sits on Fuerteventura's exposed west coast in the Pajara municipality. Reaching the water means driving to the end of the village, parking on a small hill and walking down.
The sources are unusually direct about the risk. This is not a spot for beginners or intermediates: a single mistake — dropping the kite, for instance — can mean being swept out, with only high cliffs behind and no chance of rescue. The waves run medium to big and the currents are hazardous. Wind is trade-driven, mostly from the north-west, and while stronger gusts hit nearby Sotavento in summer, La Pared holds a steadier 20 to 25 knots. It blows onshore or slightly side-onshore, which complicates both launch and landing.
Tide determines whether there is a beach at all: high water severely restricts the space, while low tide opens roughly forty metres of width across eight hundred metres of sand — and is the only sensible window. Surfers use the break and have priority. The water is cool year-round.
