About this Kite Area
La Tejita is the long beach beneath Montaña Roja, and its appeal is straightforward: space. The sources describe a very wide, flat-sloping sandy beach that is especially popular with kitesurfers precisely because there is room, and note around 210 windy days a year.
Average wind here is given as 10 to 15 knots, rising to around 15 knots in July and August — lighter than the figures quoted for the town bay, and worth factoring into kite choice. Preferred direction is north-easterly. Water runs from 18°C in winter to 25°C in summer.
Access rules on Canarian beaches change, and one source notes that permits or club membership can be required at some spots. Confirm the current position before travelling to ride here.
