About this Kite Area

El Cabezo lies a short distance along the shore from the town bay and is the wave spot of the area — well enough regarded to host international competition.

It is reserved for experienced kitesurfers, and the reason is partly the waves and partly the geography: the beach is small at high tide, which leaves very little margin for launching, landing or a mistake.

The wind is the same north-easterly trade system as the rest of El Médano, 15 to 35 knots by season and 20 to 30 knots consistently through the summer, with the same free council rescue service covering the area.
