About this Kite Area
Kitesurfing in the Calamianes is island riding rather than beach riding. The archipelago sits between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea in northern Palawan, with limestone cliffs dropping into clear water and Japanese wrecks lying in the bays around Coron.
The season runs November through March on the Amihan, the north-east monsoon, with sun and very little rain, and easterly breezes extending the window into April. Conditions suit every level.
The distinctive part is how it is done: from small camps, often on private islands, with wreck diving and snorkelling filling the days between sessions. One solar-powered camp takes no more than fifteen guests at a time, which is a fair measure of the scale here.
